Millimeter-sized balls with crystal faces on the surface of snow-white cristobalite, a rare polymorph of quartz, in approximately 1 cm large bubbles in obsidian. An aesthetic example of this high-temperature and low-pressure phase of SiO2 in a typical volcanic sample.
