Fossil coral with a cavity filled with chalcedony stalactites. The original calcite shells of the coral were dissolved during fossilization and replaced by chalcedony, so that the typical structure of the coral is preserved in places. Semi-transparent chalcedony with a yellowish to bluish color in the coral cavities creates striking stalactites. The coral comes from northern Florida and is of late Oligocene age (34–23 million years old).
