Gorgeous inclusion of sagenite in the form of a star engulfed in a transparent smoky quartz from Brazil. The smoky quartz has base dimensions of 38 x 46 mm and a height of approximately 60 mm. The crystal has an inconspicuous approximately 2 mm sized damage on the tip.
The smoky quartz crystal itself has an interesting development: the lower part of the crystal with numerous inclusions represents the remainder of a larger original crystal that was broken off during development in the cavity. A characteristic sagenite rutile triplet overgrowth grew on this broken-off stump. This “star” was subsequently overgrown by a perfectly transparent smoky quartz, which has a slightly smaller base than the original crystal. As a result, this unusual crystal creates an “aquarium” effect, where through the perfectly transparent upper part it is possible to observe the sagenite growth as well as the “bottom” of the crystal.
