Native iron from Western Greenland, from a site discovered in 1870. Pieces of very rare native iron from Greenland. Originally, this natural iron was considered to be meteoric, until scientists later discovered that it originated from tertiary basalts, where its reduction occurred due to the dissolution of surrounding calcium-rich rocks.
